Our ranch to Johnson City, TX |
Miller Creek RV Park - our summer travel begins with the Alamo Winnies Winnebago club. |

June 17, 2012 |
Johnson City, TX to Texarkana, AR |
Sunrise RV Park - Site #13 - okay for an overnight stop, noisy due to the nearby Interstate Hwy. EZ in and out, Flying J at same exit |

June 18, 2012 |
Texarkana, AR to West Memphis, AR |
Tom Sawyer's RV Park - Site #66. Beautiful, right on the Mississippi River! It's a little more involved getting here from one of the Interstates, but it's worth the trouble. Stay for a day, stay for two weeks. |

June 19, 2012 |
West Memphis, AR to Crossville, TN |
Beanpot RV Park - Site #12. There are no satellite-freindly campgrounds within a couple of hundred miles of here so we're in an older RV park with a heavy tree canopy, small spaces and limited maneuvering room. Ugh. |

June 20, 2012 |
Crossville, TN, to Independence, VA |
Spending several days with our good friends Bob & Judy at their summer home. Bob helped me replace our sickly 4-door Norcold with a residential fridge. Good bye and good riddance to the Norcold. |

June 30, 2012 |
Independence, VA to Cambridge, OH |
Spring Valley Campground - Site #B1 - This place is extremely popular with the locals and crazy on July 4th weekend - they shoot off fireworks and it must be the big event in the area. Our site was near the entrance and fortunately quite a ways from the activities. |

July 1, 2012 |
Cambridge, OH to Delaware, OH |
Cross Creek RV Resort - Premium Site# 137 (we needed a long site for the trailer.) This is another RV park that is extremely popular with the locals and very busy (as in you better have reservations weeks in advance) on holidays in the summer. Cross Creek is an older park, but very nicely maintained. They have a new section without many trees, but fortunately site 137 was satellite-friendly. Visiting with my nephews and their families. Everybody had a great time of fun and fellowship! |

July 7, 2012 |
Delaware, OH to Carlock, IL |
Kamp Komfort RV Park - Site #66. Good overnight stop, right next to I-74, an old KOA but they have good space between sites. The sites around us are satellite-friendly and site 66 is nice and long. |

July 8, 2012 |
Carlock, IL to Clear Lake, IA |
Oakwood RV Park - Site #63. We always stay at this park when going to or from Forest City (Winnebago factory service or the Grand National Rally), the sites are huge and out in the open for good satellite reception. Very quiet here and very close to the lake. |

July 10, 2012 |
Clear Lake, IA to Forest City, IA |
Winnebago Grand National Rally - We park in the Texas row. So far, we've been going to the GNR every other year. |
12 |
July 21, 2012 |
Forest City, IA to Henderson, NE |
Prairie Oasis RV Park - Site #56. We've stayed at this former KOA park before. Long pull-throughs, satellite-friendly, EZ access from I-80, good overnight stop. |
13 |
July 22, 2012 |
Henderson, NE, to Ogallalah, NE |
Country View Campground - Site #17. We've stayed here several times. Easy access from I-80, 100' long pull-throughs! Satellite friendly, nice owners. |
14 |
July 23, 2012 |
Ogallalah, NE to Glenwood Springs, CO |
Ami's Acres Camping - Site #25. A tired old (circa 1973) campground with fair to poor interior roads. The water tasted terrible here! Not particularly easy to get to from I-70. I would never stay here again. |
15 |
July 24, 2012 |
Glenwood Springs, CO to Montrose, CO |
Centennial RV Park - Site #60. This is a dandy RV park with many seasonals (including us!) We usually spend 4-6 weeks here in the summer. Close to 4-wheeling in the San Juan mountains and Montrose for shopping. We'll be in another site summer of 2013. |
16 |
Sept 4, 2012 |
Montrose, CO to Grand Junction, CO |
Cummins Rocky Mountain - We're here for generator service. |
17 |
Sept 7, 2012 |
Grand Junction, CO to Moab, UT |
OK RV Park - Site #74. A tired old RV park that is popular. Lots of trees, sites are close together, limited maneuvering room and sandspur's (stickers) are everywhere, I was always pulling stickers from the dog's paws. Will not stay here again. |

Sept 10, 2012 |
Moab, UT to Grand Junction, CO |
Cummins Rocky Mountain - We're back at Cummins. The generator acted up again on the way to Moab! Finally discovered the generator was shutting down due to interference with the Xantrex battery charger/inverter. The engine alternator was charging the batteries as was the Xantrex RS2000. Xantrex stopped supporting the RS2000 (gee, thanks guys) - all it needed was a firmware update. The "fix" is to disable the RS2000's battery charge feature when the engine AND the generator are both running. After Cummins correctly diagnosed the issue, we spent a night at the nearby Junction West RV Park, site # 17.
Junction West RV Park - Site #17. Okay for an overnight and very close to Cummins, but it was very noisy here since it is right in the middle of an industrial area. I could hear banging, crashing, and forklift back-up alarms all night long. I would stay here again if I had to, but wouldn't look forward to the experience.

Sept 13, 2012 |
Grand Junction, CO - Cheyenne, WY |
Terry Bison Ranch - We stayed a couple of years ago. Long pull-throughs, good restaurant, ride the noisy overpriced train to see buffalo up close. Very noisy. Just two miles north of the CO-WY state line. |
20 |
Sept 15, 2012 |
Cheyenne, WY to Buffalo, WY |
Indian Campground - Site #K2. Good RV park for hanging around the Buffalo area. Not that noisy considering how close it is to I-25, there's not much traffic on I-25 at night during sleeping hours. The area where our site is located is tree-free which we requested. The rest of the CG is heavily treed. We damaged our Kwikee steps (motorized steps by the front door) due to the slope of the site at the front. When we dumped the air to extend the leveling jacks, the nose went so far down the steps couldn't open fully. If we stop here again I need to bring a shovel. |
21 |
Sept 18, 2012 |
Buffalo, WY to Spearfish, SD |
Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort - Site #92. One of the very nicest RV parks or resorts we've ever stayed in! Paved roads and long concrete pull-through sites. Very expensive in-season (~$50 a night) and out of sight during the Sturgis bike event (~$150 a night!!) We stayed off-season for eight nights and paid $36.35 a night (includes taxes.) It was very windy while we were here. |
22 |
Sept 26, 2012 |
Spearfish, SD to Deadwood, SD |
Whistler Gulch RV Park - Site #319. We're in Deadwood for the Black Hills Jeep Jamboree event. $35 a night in the off-season. Sites are 65' long and very close together. Not enough room to park the Jeep at our site. Deadwood is basically a small and somewhat quaint gambling town. After we leave Deadwood, we begin the 1200 mile or so trek to our little ranch. |
23 |
Sept 30, 2012 |
Deadwood, SD to Valentine, NE |
Fishberry Campground - Site #19. Very nice and handy RV park right on US Hwy 83. Huge sites! |
24 |
Oct 1, 2012 |
Valentine, NE to Oakley, KS |
High Plains Camping - Site #217. Right at I-70 exit 70. Junction of US Hwy 83. Older park with new owners (as of 12/2011) who are busy improving it. They have some large pull-through big rig sites. Restaurant only a couple of hundred feet away, truck fueling across the street. Recommended! |
25 |
Oct 2, 2012 |
Oakley, KS to Shamrock, TX |
West 40 RV Park - Right off the iconic old Route 66. Okay for an overnighter and satellite friendly. |
26 |
Oct 3, 2012 |
Shamrock, TX to Abilene, TX |
Buck Creek RV Park - Site #19. Long pullthroughs, satellite-friendly, good overnight stop. Don't drive off the gravel if the ground is wet, you'll sink up to your axles! |

Oct 4, 2012 |
Abilene, TX, TX to our little ranch!! |
Yea!! Back home!! Thank you Lord for a great summer!! |
